DT Workshop Design & Installation service
To guarantee the safety of our DT workshop design solutions, we ensure that:
- Our workshop design service is BIM compliant. This includes condition reports and legacy audits for a long-term, cost-effective learning space.
- We use certified engineers to ensure we meet all legal requirements.
- All engineers are gas-safe registered and BOHS qualified.
- We meet compliance from start to finish. We adhere to HSG258 and BS4163:2014. We also adhere to the HSE advice Building Bulletin 81 and PUWER 98.
- On-site training is also part of the Design Technology Workshop Design & Installation package. We also provide DT machine maintenance. This ensures safe testing and compliance in your DT department.
Machine Maintenance
We also provide DT machine maintenance, which covers many tasks. These tasks include assessing the condition of machinery and conducting tests or adjustments.
There are several reasons for DT machine maintenance in your department:
- Maintain safe working conditions.
- Extend the lifespan.
- Reduce the health and safety risks for both students and staff.
- Minimise the cost of a breakdown or repair.
- Improve efficient working and problem solving.
- Ensure compliance.
Compliance with health and safety laws requires machine testing and servicing. Sufficient staff training is also vital for conditions where someone’s safety could be at risk. This is to ensure compliance with laws and guidelines.
Also, the quality and maintenance of DT equipment can affect risk assessments. Departments can use the feedback from inspectors for their risk assessments. Risk assessments can affect the frequency of machine maintenance.
School DT training programs
We offer high-quality training and support programmes for all DT departments. All of our courses are bespoke and tailored to your school’s needs and national curriculum. This helps develop staff and the improve the department.
Mark Elwell, from Designed By Me, runs our training programs. He has more than 25 years of experience teaching design technology lessons. Mark also has experience as head of a DT department and as head of faculty.
Mark has a BA in Design and Technology with Education and a P601 LEV certificate. He is also a lead health and safety consultant for D&TA and a member of the CLEAPSS Steering Group committee. In this steering group, Mark helps to promote effective and quality practical work in STEM.
Our training programmes include:
- Machinery training
- Technician training
- Machines services
- Health and safety audits
- Skills-based training
- CPD training
We also offer skills-based training and CPD training for primary and secondary DT education.
Our courses are for all age ranges for inspiring, rigorous and practical subject lessons, including:
- Key Stage 1 primary schools (primary curriculum)
- Key Stage 2
- Key Stage 3-5 (including secondary schools and post-16)
